2011 La Carrera Panamericana: The Big Finish

Blogging from my dad's office in Zacatecas.  It was a banner year.  El Jefe and Team TBZ finished 3rd overall in class Turismo Producion! 

The Greenwoods brothers finished 19th overall!  Congratulations to everyone!

My brother had to leave the race a day early so he is missing from the team photos above but he contributed greatly to the success of the team.  Sadly his mother-in-law passed away after a long battle with cancer while we were racing.  Rest in Peace, Marlene.

The Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival was amazing and the best part was getting to see a whole pile of La Carrera friends.  Nothing but smiles and laughter the whole weekend!  And there nothing like California wine country, it is so beautiful.  Also met some fabulous new friends and spent Saturday with my cousins and Sunday with a dear old friend/former coworker.  The Carrera folks I saw included Michael Emery, Luca Maciucescu, Rich Morrison, Martin Lauber and his mechanic Eric, Chip Fudge, and Joe Harding.  On Sunday I finally read the race program and was stoked to see that Martin McGlone was racing.  I ran all over that place three times looking for him until I learned he had blown his Bugatti engine at Mille a few weeks prior and didn't make this race.  Sorry to miss you, Martin!  Also had a near miss as Brad and Erin Kaplan are road tripping in their 1929 Ford Pickup and I just missed them by a day but Lauren Scheller sent a photo of...

2009 PPIHC: Crash! Good News - Bad News - Good News

After a very long day spectating at the Devil's Playground at 12,700 feet, Sistie finally gets to see for herself that Doug is okay. We had very little cell service and had to trust what we heard on the radio once we heard #358 had gone off into the woods. Good News: Our driver, Doug Allen, #358, is okay. Bad News: Around mile 2 of the race there were 2 people standing in the road right on Doug's line. He was going around 80 mph and had to decide to hit and likely kill them, or go off the road and risk his own life. Doug chose to go off the road and landed about 15 feet down a very steep embankment, crashing into aspen trees and cracking up the Mustang. Doug said around 15 people were there right away to assist him. I wasn't there but can tell you without a doubt in my mind that the 2 people that caused him to crash were NOT there to see if he was okay. 2008 PanAm: Day 5 Already.....

Hello, sorry, internet has been non-existent for quite a while. El Jefe is running very well, maybe in the 30 somthing place overall and no mechanical troubles. Todd,s boys are running quite well, typically either first, second or third in their class, or some combination thereof. On Day 2 both the Gypsy Wind and the Bag ONails hit a dip in the road during a speed stage and split their sump (that,s British for ripped open their oil pan) but Richard was able to get theirs fixed quickly by a local mechanic and finish the day, missing only 1 speed stage. Martin and Jon had dumped all their oil on the road so we had to put them on the trailer and they didn,t run the next day while the car was being fixed. There has been quite a bit of carnage but as far as we,ve heard, no one is seriously heard. A gorgeous Sunbeam was totalled on the first day, my friends Jorge and Tomas in the white Volvo went off road but they are okay. We ended up giving them a ride back to Oaxaca because they were ri...
