The Sonoma Historic Motorsports Festival was amazing and the best part was getting to see a whole pile of La Carrera friends.  Nothing but smiles and laughter the whole weekend!  And there nothing like California wine country, it is so beautiful.  Also met some fabulous new friends and spent Saturday with my cousins and Sunday with a dear old friend/former coworker.  The Carrera folks I saw included Michael Emery, Luca Maciucescu, Rich Morrison, Martin Lauber and his mechanic Eric, Chip Fudge, and Joe Harding.  On Sunday I finally read the race program and was stoked to see that Martin McGlone was racing.  I ran all over that place three times looking for him until I learned he had blown his Bugatti engine at Mille a few weeks prior and didn't make this race.  Sorry to miss you, Martin!  Also had a near miss as Brad and Erin Kaplan are road tripping in their 1929 Ford Pickup and I just missed them by a day but Lauren Scheller sent a photo of...

2010 Chihuahua Express: Race Cancelled Due to 2 More Fatalities

Yesterday, Day 2 of the 2010 Chihuahua Express , there were 2 more fatalities. At the end of the day in the last transit section (not a speed stage) back to Chihuahua, 2 cars in the Touring Class were involved in a very high speed crash on a divided highway. Hernando "Nanan" Solana (pilot) and Heberto Garcia (copiloto) were in the gray 1997 Corvette and are confirmed dead by Chihuahua Express officials. Luis Angel de la Brena (pilot) and Gerardo Arevalo (copilot) were in the late model yellow Porsche GT2 and their condition is unknown. We came upon the site 30 minutes after the crash and also heard a firsthand account from our guys in the Mustang convertible who were there a minute after the crash. The Corvette did not have safety equipment or a roll bar. Cars in the Touring Class are not required to have this equipment. 2008 PanAm: Day 5 Already.....

Hello, sorry, internet has been non-existent for quite a while. El Jefe is running very well, maybe in the 30 somthing place overall and no mechanical troubles. Todd,s boys are running quite well, typically either first, second or third in their class, or some combination thereof. On Day 2 both the Gypsy Wind and the Bag ONails hit a dip in the road during a speed stage and split their sump (that,s British for ripped open their oil pan) but Richard was able to get theirs fixed quickly by a local mechanic and finish the day, missing only 1 speed stage. Martin and Jon had dumped all their oil on the road so we had to put them on the trailer and they didn,t run the next day while the car was being fixed. There has been quite a bit of carnage but as far as we,ve heard, no one is seriously heard.
