Bo Duke, Roadster Shows and MN Tractor Pulls

I've never been to a tractor pull before, but we had our own version in Minnesota recently. The Bag O'Nails continues to call Minnesota home, though that can cause problems for test runs in the dead of winter. Luckily the average rural Minnesotan owns a tractor so our friend Farmer John pulled the Bag O'Nails up the very long, very icy driveway to take advantage of the unseasonal dry roads, sunshine and 30 deg F temperatures. The Bag O'Nails is ready for the Chihuahua Express in March!

K, braving the MN winter as well.

Tractor pull - nice MN weather but an icy driveway.

In January we attended the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona, CA to honor Todd's longtime friends, Frank and Evelyn Currie of Currie Racing Rearends. Frank had multiple roadsters on display and was honored for his lifetime achievement of racing, including racing the Great American Race 10 times in his 1910 Selden, several Power Tour Long Hauls, and racing the 1999 La Carrera Panamericana in a '66 Mustang Fastback. Frank also has a long history of Jeeping and rock crawling competitions.

More of Frank's roadsters.

At the roadster show we had a great time meeting up with Gerie Bledsoe, his daughters (Erica and Kelley with husband Howard), as well as Coop and his girlfriend, Stephanie. I have to admit it is nice to enjoy low drama social time with our LCP friends - quite a change from the usual racing madness. I also connected with a very old friend from my hometown, Steve Widdoss and his girlfriend, Christina. Steve and I have known each other since we were born, but not seen each other since 1987. It was fantastic to reconnect after so many years and we decided that even though the outside of a person changes, you can still see the little person in their sparkling eyes.

The little person came out in me again when I got to meet and talk to John Schneider, better known as Bo Duke from the Dukes of Hazzard! Yeeee Hawwwww! I loved that show growing up!! Or rather, I loved Bo!! haha. Daisy Duke was there too and we rapped a bit about how she grew up in the next town over from my dad in South Dakota (next town means 70 miles). She returns each summer to Faith, SD (pop. 489) for the rodeo - this year is their 100 year celebration and she'll be there.

Bo - looking better than ever posing with K and one of his General Lees. Gerie Bledsoe has raced with Bo at the Silver State Classic in Nevada - a super nice guy. We need to get him to La Carrera.

K chatting up Daisy Duke!

Some of my favorites from the show.

We are excited to be heading south very soon for the 2010 Chihuahua Express! Updates to follow.
